How to wear bold colours

Do you love BOLD COLOURS as much as I do? I’m super obsessed with bold or vivid colours without a doubt. They bring happiness and joy into my life and wardrobe. They also brighten my mood and give off the extra confidence to my personality.

Do you want to stand out from the crowd? Try wearing bold colours as a start 😁

As an image consultant, I love to experiment with colours and I must tell you, wearing bold colours is one of the best things I’ve ever done for my wardrobe. These colours are fun to work and play with. It’s all about finding the right colours that works amazing for your skin tone and wardrobe.

To wear bold colours could have variety of meaning. The first two that comes to mind is, you’re not afraid to draw attention to yourself and you’re also not afraid to take risks. It really does take a special person to step out in bold colours such as red and fuchsia combination without second guessing or changing their personality. Try your best and stay true to who your are when incorporating some colours into your wardrobe. Remember to let your personality shine through the bold colours you select.  Find colours that makes you feel confident and look your best at the same time. Don’t lean too much on what’s trending in the fashion world.

Accessorizing a bold coloured look takes a bit of skill because too much accessories or selecting the wrong shade of accessory could shift the purposed attention from these colours. I try to keep my accessories to bare minimum. I typically go for dangle earrings if I’m wearing turtleneck sweaters or high neck dresses. I also like to wear a simple necklace if I’m wearing an open neck top or dress. These little tips help keep the main focus on the bold colours I’m showcasing.

1. COLOURS THAT WORKS GREAT FOR YOUR SKIN TONE.

It is very important to know colours that works great for your skin tone. You have to educate yourself in knowing your skin undertone. This information will definitely cancel out hidden questions about what colours might or might not work for your skin tone. Not all bold colours are for everybody. For instance, I find neutral colours doesn’t really do much for me unless I pair them with a bold colour or with bold colours.  As a coloured woman with warm skin tone, I thrive more with bold colours.

To mention a few, colours such a red, orange, yellow, fuchsia and green does amazing for my skin tone. I’ve also noticed this same point for some coloured women too. Pastel colours such as light blues, light pinks, light yellows works incredible for individuals with neutral skin tone. Take a look at the photos below and see how amazing certain colours works for different skin tones.

2. USE PRIMARY COLOURS AS YOUR START-UP!

Let primary colours (yellow, red and blue) be your main start-up when you’re introducing bold colours into your wardrobe. These three colours definitely works for any skin tone. You can create many looks using just these colours.

For example, you can pair yellow with red or blue. You can also pair red with yellow or blue. Lastly, you can paired blue with either red or yellow. I personally love pairing yellow with blue. Blue is a calm colour that balances perfectly with yellow (attention grabber).

3. ADOPT COMPLEMENTARY COLOURS.

Thank God for complementary colours. These colours work wonders when paired with primary colours 🙌

I love red and green outfit combination. Both are rich in colour and they look incredible together. I also love blue and orange paired together. Complementary colours will definitely take your wardrobe to the next level by creating different looks if you use them well with primary colours.

You can also introduce a neutral colour (white/cream) to complete a bold look. Take a quick look at the photo below.  I paired a white/cream top and a clear belt (accessory of choice) with two bold colours; red-orange pants and yellow shoes. This was purposely done to ensure the focal point still remained on the bold colours.

Hopefully with these tips, you’re able to introduce some colour into your wardrobe. The rest will be easy once you get a hang on how to work with your primary and complementary colours 😁
